No one knows more about the island’s natural values than the MINCA. Join them for some social weeding and absorb some knowledge

Magnetic Island Network for Turtles
Turtles are turtally awesome, sometimes they get sick or injured, poor little dudes, luckily our friends at MINT are here to take them in and help them get back to cruising the oceans. They also keep track of the nests around the island and are the people to contact if you see any injured sea creatures. Contact them, to see how you can help

Arcadia Coastcare
The fabulous folk at Arcadia Coastcare are passionate and dedicated to caring for the diverse landscapes of Arcadia, they also know a lot, so join them to get stuck in

Magnetic Island Koala Hospital
Magnetic Island has a large population of resident Koalas, they are chilling all over the place. The Magnetic Island Koala Hospital are upgrading their facilities and will soon be asking for volunteers to help with the koalas that find themselves worse for wear. So join the amazing Ali B and Izzy and their furry friends.

Magnetic Island Fauna Care Organisation (MIFCO)
If you don’t want to limit yourselves to one species, MIFCO can help you help the island’s injured wildlife. They are the awesome people to call if you find any injured wildlife above the water

Yunbenun National Park Volunteers
Join the amazing Yunbenun National Park Volunteers in the bush every other Saturday for their tirelessly energetic war on weeds

Magnetic Island Community Development Association (MICDA)
MICDA have a number of working groups with sustainability themes

Reef Check Australia
If you are a qualified diver and want to learn some new skills, you can join Reef Check Australia to survey coral and clean up rubbish from the water around the island

Parents for Climate Group
The amazing Chloe and Karl head up the Townsville Parents for Climate Group, They plan family-friendly, non-partisan activities that engage communities, engage politicians in climate solutions, and amplify positive stories in the Yunbenun (Magnetic Island) & Townsville area
These are just the nature based groups, you can also drive a fire truck with the Rural Fire Brigade, become an orange hero with the State Emergency Service, dig into the Island’s rich history at the Magnetic Museum, learn something new with U3A, find a friend at the Men’s shed, or keep informed with what’s happening at Magnetic Island Residents and Ratepayers meetings. Have a look at Facebook, there are many Magnetic Island community pages and possibly a group to suit you, whatever you’re interested in, yoga, music, art, choir, table tennis, paddling, gardening, dance…….

If you are just visiting or are short on time, you can still make a difference with heaps of citizen science projects
